The Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, has yesterday rejected the imposition of Barr. Val Ada Areyenka by the Delta State Governor, Dr Immanuel Uduaghan to represent Warri Federal Constituency in the house of representatives.
In a meeting held at the palace on monday, they describe Uduaghan’s choice of Val as selfish as it was based on personal interest and internal conflict rather than Itsekiri interest and progress.
The Leaders in a meeting with some prominent Chiefs wondered why the governor is returning Federal lawmakers from other parts of the state except that of Warri, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju.
With the exit of an Itsekiri man as governor come may 29 next near, Itsekiri must brace up for likely outcomes such as marginalisation, external aggression and leadership challenges and such cannot be left in the hand of Val.
Itsekiri Jist gathered that the Governor have been staying away from his royal marjesty, Ogiame Atuwatse the 2nd to avoid being compel to support Reyenieju. He has boyccoted several calls from the leaders for reason of their publication against him.
The leaders still mantain their position that Reyenieju still remain Itsekiri interest and must not be hindered by internal conflict nor personal interest.
Acording to the laeders, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju has been living up to his expectation from palace and Itsekiri since he became a member of the house of representative and much is still been expected from him.
“Itsekiri cannot afford to gamble with the next political dispensation and our brother, the Governor ought to be in thesame page with our King about who is best suitable for those political positions but the revised is the case.”
They aknowledge that the governor have taken advantage of the division in Itsekiri and the silence of the Palace to carry out his political target against key and notable Itsekiri leaders who he is not in tune with.
One of the leaders posited that Itsekiri political positions should not be used to achieve personal ambition and fighting of political oponents, rather the best foot should be left on the field to continue their work.
There are indication from a reliable from the palace that effort for the king to reach or communicate with the governor lately has prove abortive as the Governor is aware that the palace and the leaders position is Reyenieju.
Hon. Daniel Reyenieju is seeking to return to the house the 3rd times and it is the opinion of the palace that returning a lawmaker will be of more benefit to the people as it will boost the position of the lawmaker in the house rather than sending a new member.
“With the present EPZ controversy still hanging balance and the threat of possible aggression against the Itsekiri, resolving such a complex issue demand someone with National deplomacy and Reyenieju is in better position to take such responsibility.” said one of the Leader.
