Nigerian woman dies in fire outbreak in Saudi Arabia

An unidentified Nigerian woman, three Canadians and a Pakistani are among at least 10 people that lost their lives in a fire outbreak that engulfed parts of a residential compound rented by oil giant Saudi Aramco, in Saudia Arabia yesterday August 30th. According to a statement the Saudi Arabian government, 10 people died while 259 were injured.

Arch Ezekiel – Buhari: “Probe All Land Allocations For Mass Housing In Abuja”

The Chairman of the Novone Enterprise Estates Initiative, Arc Nya-Etok Ezekiel, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to probe all land allocations made in respect of mass housing in Abuja in the last 10 years.


Ezekiel, who made the call, yesterday, in Abuja regretted that most of lands allocated to estate developers for constructing mass housing accommodations for lower income earners have been used for other reasons.

Ezekiel, who is also the chairman of sub-committee on low income housing estate developers, alleged that the beneficiaries of such hectares of land either balkanised them into plots and sold them to the rich people at very exorbitant rates or developed them into edifices which were out of reach of ordinary Nigerians.

Nigerias’ D’Tigers Beat Angola 74-65 To Win The Afrobasket 2015


It was a record breaking event on Sunday as the D’Tigers broke the jinx by lifting the  trophy of the Afrobasket 2015. It was never a dull moment in last night’s clash in Rades, the defending champions took the first quarter 13 points to 11 points, Nigeria rallied back and dominated the second quarter 27 points to 11 points.

The third quarter was a tight contest between both sides with Nigeria slightly edging out Angola 14 to 12 points. It will be the second Olympic appearance for Nigeria’s men’s team after the first showing at the London 2012 Olympics.

This is the first time Nigeria will win Afrobasket: Africa’s continental basketball tournament. D’Tigers, as the Nigerian basket ball team are known have previously played in the final of Afrobasket three times losing the final games once to Senegal and twice to the continental basketball giants Angola. Prior to this year’s event  Nigeria has never beaten Angola in nine meetings dating back to 1987.
