Could Ox be heading for Turkey?

Turkish giants Galatasaray are preparing a huge offer for Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

They have made contact to enquire about the England international‘s availability and are determined to try to get their man.

A French agent has got the mandate to attempt to broker a deal for the 22-year-old, who has got three years left on his current deal at the Gunners.

Galatasaray are clearly thinking about the future rather than this window but they are deadly serious about making it happen – and insist they have got the money.

Giroud: Benzema would have been perfect

Perfect partnership: Benzema and Giroud could have been the perfect partnership

Olivier Giroud has admitted Karim Benzema is the player that Arsenal needed in this window.

The Gunners beat Newcastle 1-0 on Saturday but have now scored just three goals in their opening four Premier League games.

Despite the club’s interest in Benzema, Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez is insistent that the 27-year-old striker will not be sold in this window.

It means Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking elsewhere ahead of tomorrow’s deadline and 28-year-old Giroud admits another high-quality striker is needed at the club.

Crunch time: Wenger still needs a couple of arrivals

This all feels a bit like Groundhog Day.

Arsene Wenger is still trying to get a deal done before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday.

They are genuinely working on things, it’s just a question of whether there is enough time and if deals can get done.

Last year they left it late with Danny Welbeck and it’s rare that big deals get pushed over the line so quickly.

But the fact remains they need more firepower and that was highlighted by Arsenal’s win at Newcastle.
