Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Daniel Sturridge has suffered a fresh setback in his recovery from injury.
The Liverpool striker has been tormented by fitness issues this term, managing just three league starts.
His last appearance came in early December, when he made an appearance off the bench in the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle.
And now Klopp has confirmed that Sturridge will play no part in Wednesday’s FA Cup replay against Exeter at Anfield.
Asked whether Sturridge would be available, Klopp said: “No. No chance for Daniel.
“He has had a break in training because of some issues. He’s now back training but losing time.
“But no team training since Newcastle. I don’t know how long it is.
“That’s not a situation we can think about him.”
Klopp also remained tight-lipped on another Reds striker, Jerome Sinclair, who is being tipped to leave the club this month.
“Nothing to say about this,” the German said.
“Jerome is very young, so in a situation he has skills but physically it’s not easy for him in a central position in a Premier League game, to survive.
