WEIRD, WEIRD FACTS: BETWEEN ABRAHAM LINCOLN AND JOHN F. KENNEDY

Lovers and followers of American history will be very familiar with these two names above. They were the 16th and 35th Presidents of the United States respectively.

While Lincoln and Kennedy lived nearly a century apart, there are some comparisons about the both of them that pricks a lover of history and politics. These facts first appeared after Kennedy’s assassination and it has been in the historical space since. Ayomide Akinbode outlines these facts and the burning question remains — was Lincoln and Kennedy the same man who was born and lived, became a president and was killed and born again and lived, became a president again and was killed again – shot in the head? LINCOLN AND KENNEDY

Abraham Lincoln was elected to congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to congress in 1946.

Lincoln was elected president in 1860.
Kennedy was elected president in 1960.

Both surnames consist of seven letters.

Both were concerned with human rights.

Both lost a child in the white house.

Both were 6-feet tall.

Both presidents were shot in the head.

Both were shot on a Friday (Lincoln was shot on a Good Friday).

Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson who succeeded Lincoln was born in 1808.
Lyndon B. Johnson who succeeded Kennedy was born in 1908.

Stephen Douglas who contested the 1860 elections against Lincoln was born in 1813.
Richard Nixon who contested the 1960 elections against Kennedy was born in 1913.

John Wilkes Booth who assassinated Lincoln was born in 1829.
Lee Harvey Oswald who assassinated Kennedy was born in 1929.

Both were known by their 3 names.

Both names comprise of 15 letters.

Both were killed before their trials.

Lincoln was shot in a theatre named Ford.
Kennedy was shot in a car made by Ford.
