A mother shot a man who flew from New Zealand to her home in Virginia to see her 14 year-old daughter after chatting to her online. Troy George Skinner, 25, was gunned down by the woman after turning up at her home in Goochland, Va., Friday carrying a knife and duct tape he’d bought after flying into the US. Goochland Sheriff Jim Agnew told WTVR after: ‘He was not invited here, he was not expected here, he had been told in the past that the daughter no longer wished to communicate with him.
‘This was not random, not spontaneous, this was something very planned.’ Disturbingly, Skinner traveled to the family’s home after the teenager tried to cease all contact with him on video game website Discord, where they had chatted.
He took two international flights, one domestic plane and a Greyhound bus, before hitch-hiking 30 miles. The mom, who has not been named, sprang into action after Skinner began banging on the door of her home with a brick. She called her husband, who told her to grab a gun. And when Skinner then threw a stone through a glass door at the property, the woman fired at Skinner twice, hitting him once in the neck.
He is expected to survive his injuries. A friend described Skinner as an anti-social loner, and said he’d claimed he had been traveling to America’s west coast to meet online gamer friends. He added: ‘Then you hear about duct tape, knife and are like what the hell is this?
